Our Chefs
Meet The Founder
Chef Michel Nischan, Founder and CEO
Wholesome Crave was founded by Chef Michel Nischan, four-time James Beard Award winner and one of the most recognized names in American culinary leadership. He's prioritized the same values his entire career: real ingredients, from-scratch techniques, and food that does more than just feed people. Every soup in our portfolio reflects that standard. 100% clean label across both product lines, developed by chefs with genuine cultural authority, and built to perform in the most demanding foodservice environments in the country. Chef Michel built this company for scaled operators because he believes the best food shouldn't only exist in fine dining; it should be available everywhere people eat.

Meet The Impact Board
Most food companies consult visionary chefs. Ours are part of the company.
The Wholesome Crave Impact Board is a group of nationally recognized culinary leaders who hold equity positions in the company and develop every recipe with genuine cultural authority over the traditions behind them. They are not brand ambassadors, they are co-owners with real stakes in the quality and integrity of every product that carries their name. Their involvement reflects our belief that the best food comes from the people who grew up with it, trained in it, and have built careers defending it. It's also a deliberate model for what equitable food industry leadership can look like.Maneet Chauhan
Two-time Food Network Tournament of Champions winner and celebrated restaurateur, Chef Maneet Chauhan brings the full depth of her Punjabi culinary heritage to her role as Wholesome Crave Impact Board Chair. Born and trained in the traditions behind the flavors she cooks, she developed our Butternut Ginger soup and helps shape the direction of the brand with the cultural authority that has made her one of the most recognized voices in American food.
Sean Sherman
Two-time James Beard Award winner, author, and founder of The Sioux Chef, Chef Sean Sherman has spent his career recovering and celebrating the indigenous food traditions of North America. His work has shifted how America understands its own culinary history, earning him national recognition and a devoted following. He brings that depth of knowledge and cultural authority directly to Wholesome Crave through his development of our Green Chile Posole.
Pierre Thiam
James Beard Foundation Cookbook Hall of Fame-inductee and author of four acclaimed cookbooks, Chef Pierre Thiam brings West African culinary tradition to the global stage. Senegal-born and New York-based, he founded Yolélé Foods to open new markets for West African farmers while introducing ancient ingredients like fonio to American kitchens, earning over one million views for his TED Talk on food, farming, and the future.
Alexander Ong
Rising Star Chef award-winner and former chef-owner of San Francisco's celebrated Betelnut Pejiu Wu, Chef Alex Ong brings deep expertise to his role as Director of Culinary Excellence at UMass Amherst. Under his leadership, UMass Dining has continued a legacy of recognition with nine consecutive years as the nation's best campus dining program by the Princeton Review, setting the national standard for institutional culinary excellence.
Built for the Way You Operate
Wholesome Crave soups are developed by world-renowned chefs with genuine cultural authority and designed to perform consistently across the most demanding foodservice environments. They check every box when it comes to what your consumers demand, from allergen-free options to the top comfort classics they expect in your soup well every day.

About Wholesome Crave
Wholesome Crave operates at the intersection of culinary excellence and business integrity. We hold ourselves to a standard that is rare in scaled foodservice: every product on our menu is developed by chefs who hold equity in this company, made from ingredients that meet a 100% clean label standard, and backed by a mission that gives every purchase a purpose beyond the plate.
We are selective about the programs we partner with because the operators we work with expect more, and we deliver it every day. That means consistent product quality, a brand story worth telling at the point of service, and a culinary team that is genuinely invested in the success of the programs they supply.
